. . . by paying $40 to have my tires rotated? These are new meats I got a few months ago and the guy who installed them said very specifically:
don’t fuck around, rotate your tires regularly every 3-5k miles.
I had originally planned to get them rotated when I got my oil changed a couple of weeks ago but they got “too busy” so I went to a local tire shop.
Also, when I asked the guy he said he was just swapping the back and front tires and not moving the passenger rear to the driver front and vice versa like I thought you were supposed to do.

The tires you have in your February 24th post are directional tires.
They c an only be rotated from front to back on each side not crossways like most all common tires are.

Nah, the more you rotate, the more evenly they’ll wear.

I can’t really comment on the price, but I guess you can’t expect them to do it for free. As far as the procedure, it’s highly dependent on the vehicle. FWD vs RWD vs AWD/4WD, and also staggered tire setups will have different rotation patterns compared to 4 square corners.

I was today years old when I found what directional tires are. There’s no end to the shit I don’t know.

Now that I know I have directional tires and it’s a * slightly* easier job, I will negotiate on the price next time cause it’s a small local tire shop. Even if I can’t get any love on the price, it’s a place you can be in and out of in 10-15 minutes with no paperwork or upselling.

The big question is “were they balanced, too?” Yes, there are plenty of places that will take $40 just to rotate your tires and never re-balance them (which is the more specialized, labor intensive part).
In theory, rotating them every day is perfect. For me, every 7,500 or so does the trick. They end up wearing out within about 1/32" of each other over the course of 3-5 rotations.

Nope, t hey were balanced when they were first put on in Feb. . . . which was six months ago . . . . which in 2020 time is approximately 2 1/2 years.

$40 to rotate tires? That’s a waste of money. It’s something you can easily do yourself within an hour or less.
“and the guy who installed them said very specifically: don’t fuck around, rotate your tires regularly every 3-5k miles.”
That guy is an idiot.
BFGoodrich recommends the tires be rotated every 6000-8000 miles:

“when I asked the guy he said he was just swapping the back and front tires and not moving the passenger rear to the driver front and vice versa like I thought you were supposed to do.”
What Brickman said.

Yes. Can be done in the driveway with tools that probably come with the car, please hurl your Oppo Gold membership card into the nearest volcano. And for the last time yes, you can simply walk there

Well actually . . . . this is one of those terrible, terrible cars that doesn’t come with a jack and donut spare, but an air compressor and some industrial strength fix-a-flat.

My tires rotate every time I drive.

I just threw up a little

As you should. That really might be my only complaint about this car.
